skippenh a wonderful album, reflecting the strange peace our environments place upon us. I spend much of my time outside my point of origin (the UK - Scotland specifically) , so whilst in Asia this reminds of 'home', when I do come home it reminds me of how strange 'home' actually is... the pictorial enhancements are just so good also... what is the everyday, what is the weird...

duncanmcevoy Beautiful work, both in the Album and the picture book. There is a slight unease existent within all of the tracks. But these become overlaid with a sense of peace. A distant sounding car or burglar alarm outside, something less than an annoyance soon is overlaid by an inner peace. The only track that suggests a greater unease, or fear, is Green to Grey. Imagine entering the urbanised landscape, walking in alone from the fields beyond.
Those who walked alone in Covid will recognise this work. Favorite track: A Seldom Seen Way.

The British countryside. Sometimes it can seem you are in the middle of nowhere but you are never too far away from the influence of humanity. The very field systems we walk through are a conceit of our agricultural history of course, but this isn't quite what I mean.

Phone masts, pylons, utility buildings, building sites for new red brick estates. Litter and refuse of all descriptions. From fly tips to abandoned clothes. Remnants of stolen moments, nefarious or joyously innocent.

The distant, yet incessant, white noise drone of a motorway or major A road, against the ageless birdsong and wind in the trees.

Ominous structures loom on the horizon; an industrialised farm complex, an Amazon warehouse, a power station. Other monoliths of indeterminate origin.

Then there's the areas of nature found in urban and suburban areas. The strips of ancient path and woodland a business park have been built around. Manicured, smooth pathways than run alongside warehouses, fulfilment centres and factories. Canals and converted branch lines that run behind town centres and cut through housing estates. Places of relative calm and yet, sometimes, palpable unease.

Amongst all this, we find our strange peace.

Great record. wears it's influences proudly ..but retains a sliver of identity that is uniquely British and has a northern feel to it..I think that these geographic musical vignettes are realy evocotive of northern Newtown Uber estates and satellite communities..I hope this translates to a wider audience for him...he deserves the attention. give him his due .NOW . christopherogley
